Professional Experience
- 2008-present: United States Pharmacopeia, Rockville, Maryland, USA
Chemist III, Reference Standards Laboratory
- Organize, implement, and evaluate testing of reference standard materials.
- 2005-2008: Electronics Materials Group, Polymers Division, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA
- Investigated dielectric response of polymer solutions, which revealed a transition from plasticization to antiplasticization in temperatures and diluent concentration. Understanding of this phenomenon can lead to improving mechanical properties of polymers and can be apply to biopreservation.
- Examined dielectric response of thin semiconducting polymer films, such as P3HT used in organic thin film transistors (OTFT). These results disclosed that in high frequency regime the local molecular relaxation impact the electrical properties of the material.
- Characterized electrical and mechanical properties of new polymer gate dielectric that can be used in OTFTs. These new polymers were found to have law temperature local relaxation and relatively high dielectric constant, which is desirable in practical applications.
- Investigated temperature dependence of molecular relaxation in polymers, used in dental composites and contact lenses, in low temperatures and in sub-Tg – designed and led the project.
- 1999-2004: Institute of Physics, University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland
Research Assistant
- Investigated the dielectric response: the relaxations and conductivity of low molecular supercooled glass forming liquids in very low temperatures or under high pressures.
- Examined the delay in dc-conductivity and the structural relaxation time with the decreasing temperature or increasing pressure and the relation between them in the specific thermodynamic conditions.
Teaching Assistant
- Introductory physics laboratories for chemists - undergraduate-level.
- Supervised researches and thesis on graduate level (M.Sc.).
- Mechanical Physics classes - undergraduate-level.
- 1999-2005: Herbert Clark Hoover Middle and High School, Ruda Slaska, Poland
Chemistry Teacher (part time)
- Taught chemistry in both middle and high school on every grade level. Worked with classes of about 25 students in size in lectures and laboratory work. Experiments had been performed in small groups to give every student the opportunity to work with chemicals.
